To watch the semi with Greece, and if we qualify over the mighty czechs, fingers crossed, watch the final too, well, even if we don't qualify i ll probably stick around for a few more days to watch the final and do some tourism. So i m almost closing shop with my euro bets, a 20% yield and +40something% profit is allright for the time being, i ll only have one more portugal pk bet for the semi, and i was considering some props for the greece game, namely cards over and corners 10-12, but i wont be betting these, i prefer to watch the game than have to card and corner count.

So, bol to the greek team, bol to you boys and your bets, take care and i ll see you in a few days.

BOL to you and your team Jack. Have a nice trip and enjoy it.
BTW greetings to Otto Rehagel if you meet him. He is actually from the same home town (Essen) as i am.
My dad has seen him play football for a Essen team when he was younger and Rehagel was one of the more rude defenders. My dad told sometimes they were yelling to him after a foul: " Otto, bring out the axe, the corpse is still grinning". So beware

thanks for the wishes there chris, i am leaving tommorow noon, but i ve heard that old otto re-hacles was one hell of a tough defender, like you said, i couldn't phrase it better, the axe thing, still he is a very likeable personality, as well as his wife, and when german talent and discipline comes across greek talent a lot of great things can happen.

i hope we ll get together at the german world cup in 2006 over a beer, till then see you in a few days, and let the crazy mofo german and us greeks raise the cup!!!!!!!!!!1

Have fun Jack. I hope your boys pull the upset.
It should be rabid down there.

I just got back from a Euro Pub
in Santa Barbara where the Dutchies
were crying in their beers....(my wife included). Portugal and Figo ran circles
around them today.

My money will be on Portugal to win on Sunday...

enjoy the insanity.

boys, i just came back, an hour ago, and i had to check how my good buddies over at the rx where doing, i am humbled by the good words, i am in a state of prolonged disbelief, awe, prosperity, and grandeur over what hellas pulled off in this euro, doing away with all favourites, france, spain, the czechs, and portugal (twice). Thanks for the good words here too. The game with the czechs must have had one of the best crowds i ve witnessed in a football match up, and i ve witnessed a lot, the team was just one with the crowd and fans, and when overtime came and our captain zagorakis came in and claped his hands, a weary, exhausted team, and a weary, exhausted crowd went in a frenzy, they played their best 15 minutes ever, and we shouted our guts out in an unfathomable rhythm and intension, it was as if we played and they shouted, but they played and we shouted, it was fvcking zen at that point, if you know what i mean. And then the final, and the cup....

I got to get some sleep now, see you all soon.

p.s. btw, the portuguese must be one of the most polite and hospitable race/nation in the world. The accepted defeat so gracefully, they were perfect hosts, and celebrated with us till morning. Hats off to them, what a great football nation.

the holand guys are wonderful too, after losing to portugal we're went to lisbon and they were there celebrating with us =) on other hand, i hate probably 90% of english fans, they just do shit wherever they go..they were probably the only country in portugal to cause disturb's in algarve - albufeira, damn those guys, and when they lose? oh my god..they blame everything except their own team, in England they beat some portuguese who were celebrating, **** those guys, and their ****i*g hooliganism...

anyway, glad u like beeing in here

come here more times to spend holidays, eheh it's a beautiful country, and we're gonna miss everyone of you, who atend to euro2004, it was great, even UEFA said it was the best ever, for the organization and lack of violence etc =)

for me was a bit sad..we never won a european champ, we were in the final once, twice in semi final's and several in quarters.. :\ everyone got a bit sad..personally for me was sad cause our called 'gold generation' with figo, rui costa, fernando couto, joão pinto, vitor baia etc the one's who won the 91' juvenis world cup, never won a title..and now rui costa leave the nacional team, it put me really sad to see him in the center of the stadium, where he grown up(benfica - Luz stadium) after the game, crying and so.. :\ oh well, portugal have nice young players now, probably one of the best defence in the world (Ricardo Carvalho) let's see in 2006

and i'm really curious about how greece will 'behave' in 2006 :p

I am glad i spend some time in your country Pedro, which is indeed very beautiful, the sea coasts, the forests and fields, the cities, the villages (the train journey from Mealhada to Porto, with the alpha pendular, with stops for lunch and coffee left a very pleasant aftertaste to me). Porto was wonderfull, such a beatiful harbour (and i loved your cuisine too, with the fish, olive oil and lots of garlic, the fish plates prepared in the copper double pans where delicious), and Lisbon, baixa where i stayed with the arch and the squares where we celebrated, was a metropolis well worth a visit. I didn't go all the way south to Faro, but i am sure i ll travel there sooner or later and spend some time in the shores. As i mentioned before, the portuguese where very hospitable and this surely is one of the most succesfull euros, an unparralled football feast, i should have spent more time there, five days where far from enough.

I can appreciate the sadness and the let down of portuguese fans, most greeks can and did amidst their triumph and glory. Upon leaving da Luz and walking to the metro station the portuguese where clapping their hands and cheering at us and we clapped back at them (almost all of us, except a few boneheads with their lewd singing) in appreciation of what great hosts they were, and knowing that, as we here in greece say, the merit of the one who loses gives value to the one winning. A few hours ago i was watching greek player Stelios Gianakopoulos on tv who, amongst others, mentioned that he too was saddened to see the portuguse players in tears and shock, and he d prefer to have won any other team but portugal, but he also rightly said that portugal is, and has always been, amongst the foremost footballing nations on the globe, with huge talent, and huge talent of younger players coming up, and that they'll sooner or later have their moments of glory too.

As for the english, i couldn't agree more with you on them, all they know is how to get pissed drunk and wreck the place and everyone's good time. They are used to pubs closing late in their home country, and law enforcement suppressing them, and as soon as they are let loose they get out of control and behave in a manner associated with the worst kind of trash. A friend of mine was telling me that whenever english teams play in italy the bars close much earlier than usual and every advertisement on drink in tv, radio, or bilboards is strictly prohibited, well, that says a lot. But, as much as they managed to do some damage they failed to spoil a great party for all europeans, and the rest of the world.

p.s. just before leaving i posted: "i ll only have one more portugal pk bet for the semi, and i was considering some props for the greece game, namely cards over and corners 10-12, but i wont be betting these, i prefer to watch the game than have to card and corner count." I obviously bet the portugal game, and a very convincing victory and performance of the portuguese over the dutch that was, and i couldnt resist the tempation of betting the props for the greece - czechs game, which i d completely forgotten until coming back home and logging into my betfair acount. I was very content to see that with 6 yellow cards and 11 corners and both prop bets were winners adding up to a good final bank in an alltogether, and in every aspect, succesful tournament.

Zitto zitto Hellas. YOu Greeks were really impressive,Id on't know what it is with the English fans. YOu are not viewed as being tough and there is no need to prove anything. YOu just look like a bunch of punks and are a disgrace to your fellow countrymen. There is no need to pull the shit you do. Act like class and be gentleman no matter where you are . YOu let your misguided passion get in the way sometimes.
